Hidden gem in Eastern Oregon. Some roads are rough on the residential side but mostly past private gates. Small, friendly town, population of about 76. A little access to the water, more and better access if you know someone in the area. Water gets very low in the summer and lots of algae so not good for swimming. Rattlesnakes but easy to avoid. Bass and some massive rainbow trout. Quiet, not normally many people there.

Lots of spaces. Good views of the lake. Clean restrooms and hot showers. We had a very nice time. Say hello to Ranger Nathan from Dennis and Betty.

Unmolested by the light pollution, this campground provides the by far the most beautiful night sky. This means that there is not much of shade, either. It also has the shower heated by the solar power generated energy. I would not find this campground, if there was not for the total eclipse!

Rented a cabin in early June and it was amazing! Cabin sleeps 5 max, has tables, chairs, heating, a floor fan and a ceiling fan, and a front porch with a bench that faces the lake. Accompanying outdoor area features a firepit with grill on top and a picnic table. Water pump is very close to the cabins. Seems like a great place for boating, but not for swimming. I called to check if swimming was allowed, and while it technically is, there was no dedicated or roped off spot for it, so I don't really recommend it. There are a few small trails nearby but don't recommend it if hiking is your thing. But it is a beautiful outdoor area, flushing toilets and running showers, and the staff is great!
