About Lake Sakakawea
Lake Sakakawea: Your North Dakota Oasis
Hey there, fellow lake lovers! Planning a trip to North Dakota? You absolutely have to check out Lake Sakakawea. This massive 368,000-acre lake is a real gem, and I've spent plenty of time exploring its shores. It's located right here in North Dakota, and with a 4.7-star average rating, you know it's a popular spot for good reason.
Think vast open water, perfect for boating. You'll find convenient boat ramps and even a full-service marina to make your time on the lake as smooth as possible. And if you're a fishing enthusiast, this is your kind of place. We're talking walleye, pike, and even Chinook salmon—a real treat for anglers! There's a fish-cleaning station right there too, so you can get your catch ready for a delicious meal. Parking is usually readily available, so finding a spot shouldn't be a problem.
Recently, visitors have raved about the stunning sunsets they've witnessed over the lake's tranquil waters. One visitor even mentioned the sheer abundance of wildlife they saw, making for a truly memorable experience. Another loved the peace and quiet, finding it to be the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It's this combination of stunning scenery, excellent fishing, and easy access that makes Lake Sakakawea such a special place.

- ★★★★★almost 6 years agoNice place to get away and explore around. Be aware of ticks!!!! I picked up 43 of the buggers in one trip late June 2019
- ★★★★★over 6 years agoIt's big. It's full of water. In the winter it's frozen. Lots of great fishing. If you want world class Northern Pike or Walleye... this is the place to go! Ice fishing in the winter, boat fishing in the spring and summer. You can even fish from the shores, if you find the right spots. Great fishing from Williston all the way to Garrison Dam. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
