Truly one of Oklahoma's most beautiful lakes surrounded with it's natural undeveloped woodlands and a wealth of history. From the exposed rock loaded with fossils dating from 450 billion years, Neolithic artifacts, Mound Builders Mounds, Osage history right up to the the Trail Of Tears and their present day descendants. Chief Utsaleta who built his home in front of the cave he named The Powderhorn for it's shape until his passing in 1891. In 1930 Big Jim” Pilkington created the Powderhorn botanical garden and in 1935 the WPA built the schoolhouse that's now the pavilion.

This place was easy to access from the main road. There were good roads within the area to drive around the different lake sides. I noticed several facilities inside of the area. It's also a great place for photographers to come and enjoy natural settings. There was a boat ramp right beside one of the Lakes which makes accessibility very easy.

I come to the lake often. It is super fun. There are places to camp and a lot of boat ramps. Always a lot of people fishing and plenty of beautiful creeks surrounding it. You can pretty much do your own thing. Just make sure to clean up after yourself.
