LCO and the Chippewa Flowage are the greatest lakes in the Hayward area, in my opinion. This lake is not for the amateurs or families with children. For that , there are plenty of smaller lakes nearby, full of bluegills and large mouths. As for the lake, be careful of the rocky points. There are secret holes in a secret location where muskies like to hang out.

LCO is a large, deep, clear lake. It has surprisingly little boat traffic - mostly fishing boats and pontoons. On weekends, there is a considerable party on the sand bar on the south shore of the lake. It is a premium lake for homes and seasonal cabins.

I nice large lake with fair to good fishing and plenty of space to play. Lots of decent public boat access. Not much for public beaches.

A beautiful lake near Hayward, WI. Home to the Berkebeiner, Trailways Inn, and the lumberjack world championship. What else could you want?
