We did not originally planned to visit this lake. But we choose to visit Lake Katahdin as everything else was full and officers are not letting new people in. So if you are planning to track mount katahdin then make sure to reach there by 6 am. But tracking for Katahdin Lake was very good experience. One way distance was 3.4 mile and it was very easy tracking to do. It took around 2 hours one way and have great view of mount katahdin and lake. During tracking we saw few snakes🐍 , squirrels 🐿, Moose and frogs 🐸. To reach at the lake we have to pass through one stream which is amazing experience to do. Rocks are very slippery, so be careful while passing through stream. You can also book camping site by the side of lake which will cost only 21$/day.

We parked at Avalanche field parking lot and hiked for around 3 miles to Katahdin wilderness camps. We rented the canoe from the main gate for just $1 per hour or $8 for full day, they gave us the keys for the canoe. The 3 mile hike is easy there is no serious elevation gain and is pretty straightforward. There are life jackets available near the canoe. We paddled for 3-4 hours and enjoyed the views of Katahdin from the water. Plenty of wildlife to see in the area.
