So as far as the lake and campground they are a 5 star. The reason I have a 1 star rating is the fact that I had caught my limit of trout and brought them back home to clean and while I was cleaning them I decided to see what else they were eating and checked the stomachs and found multiple live flatworms inside of them. And now I have to get my dog treated for flatworms as she likes to eat raw fish meat while I'm cleaning them. I have checked many fish from other lakes and this is the first time I've found flatworms inside of any trout I've caught in New Mexico. So please BE AWARE OF FLATWORMS INSIDE OF THE TROUT HERE.

Nice park overall. Can flood when it rains. Could hear dogs or coyotes in the distance most of the night. Many reserved spots and fewer campers present. Many bird wildlife species and decent fencing for safety. Lots of trails and great views on the lake side.

Passing through and found this gem. The State Parki is HUGE. There is definitely enough room for privacy and solitude. They use the honor system here, and I love it. Choose the area you want on the map and pay the corresponding fee. This system let's me know parks and rec still feels people have integrity .... It's a super cool concept. A+++ I'm glad we landed here. ❤️ #Equestrian #Horse #HorseCamp #HorseCamping

We recently stayed at Bluewater State Park, and unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. Fires were not allowed due to forest fire risk, which is understandable. However, the park is not well maintained. The grass is very long, making it potentially dangerous due to the risk of snakes and fire ants. We tried walking one of their paths, but it wasn’t well marked, and the long grass made it difficult to walk. Additionally, the trail requires you to cross the river by foot as there is no bridge, so we had to turn around. The deer flies were biting, which made the stay even worse. We did not see any animals during our stay, but the views are pretty. The bathrooms were clean, but they close at 9 PM, which was inconvenient. The showers were fine, but the park only provides electricity, no water or sewer, which is a hassle when staying in an RV. A major inconvenience was the park gates closing at 8 PM. If you arrive after that, you won't be able to get in as they do not provide a code. Additionally, there is no internet in the park—not just no free WiFi, but no cell service at all. Overall, we were quite disappointed and will not stay at this park again.

Beautiful lake! It's been so long since I've been there that I forgot how wonderful it was. The lake area is very well kept and the bathrooms were clean. Only about a 1.5 hour drive from Albuquerque, makes this lake a great day trip spot as well. Our only complaint...we were there for the 4th of July holiday weekend and we fished all day on Saturday (July 6) and not only did we NOT catch anything, not one person around us caught anything either. You'd think they would've stocked the lake for the holiday.
