- ★★★★★about 4 years agoOur boat tour was a big adventure for us with family and kids. We are drawn to the water but are too intimidated to rent a boat, as we are not accomplished boaters. We were feeling little nervous about piloting a pontoon boat for the first time. Our family consists of outdoor enthusiasts. We could not contain our enthusiasm when we decided to do boating in Barren River Lake, a 10000 acre lake with rolling tree-covered hills. It was a wonderful experience on a nice day with the beautiful glass surface of the Barren Lake reflecting the summer sky and sun peeking through the scattered clouds and passionate boaters greeting and waving each other. Peaceful family atmosphere unlike many vacation destinations. There is lots of green space and rugged beauty all around.
- ★★★★★over 3 years agoAlways a great time. There are many logs in the water and you have to constantly be on the lookout for obstructions. It's a good idea to have a depth finder since it's hard to tell how deep the water is in many areas. Stick to the channel and follow the large rocky cliffs to avoid running aground.
- ★★★★★over 1 year agoSpending a week at my friend's place on the shores of Barren River Lake was the perfect escape. The peacefulness of the lake and the natural beauty surrounding it made every moment truly special. We spent our days fishing, kayaking, and occasional swimming, which offered the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. Fishing was a highlight—there’s something incredibly calming about casting a line into the still waters and waiting in the quiet, surrounded by nature. Kayaking on the lake was equally enjoyable, allowing my kids to take in the stunning scenery from a unique perspective. And, of course, swimming in the clear, cool waters was a refreshing way to beat the summer heat. The time spent at Barren River Lake was more than just a getaway; it was a rejuvenating experience that left us feeling reconnected with nature and recharged. If you're looking for a serene spot to unwind and enjoy the great outdoors, Barren River Lake is the place to be.
